I and my friend Mr Nageshwar started at 08:20 AM in Bangalore to the Asia's most significant nesting and breeding ground for birds - Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary located on the banks of Kaveri river. Annually many exotic migratory species visit this sanctuary.

There is a ranger guided boat ride along the river bank to have a great experience of watching many species of flora (plants) and fauna (birds and other animals). The birds breed here and stay here till their young ones are ready to fly. This sanctuary consists of six islets formed by kaveri river providing space for many different types of birds. There is a board displaying the names of various types of birds that visit the bird sanctuary for nesting and breeding from Siberi, North America & Australia.

This place also has a variety of flora with splendid greenery and beautiful flowers. The Kaveri river is the main reason for such thick green vegetation. The bird watch here is a feast to the eyes as we can see many different types of birds at once.
Lotus |
Apart from birds and flora, it is also a host for many other fauna such as crocodiles, Bonnet Macaque, squirrels, colonies of flying fox etc. The total area of the sanctuary is 40 acres and it is declared as a bird sanctuary in the year 1940.

As this place is situated near to Srirangapattana and Mysore, there are lot of tourist attractions near this place. We returned back to Bangalore with the snap shots of beautiful birds in our eyes.
